Samsung Mobile has released the 2020 generation of their Galaxy Note series. The Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra comes with considerably upgrades in every key department of a smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20

The phone is built around a 6.7″ Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution, HDR10+ and Always-on display. Last year’s Note 10 has a 6.3″ display size. The battery capacity is now at 4,300 mAh which is an 800 mAh increase from last year’s model. The Galaxy Note 20 uses a 25W charger which goes from 0-50% in 30 minutes.

The rear camera of the Galaxy Note 20 is the same with the Galaxy S20. It is a triple camera system consisting of a 12MP f/1.8 main lens with Dual Pixel and OIS, a 64MP f/2.0 telephoto lens with 3x hybrid optical zoom and a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens with 120° FoV. Inside the punch-hole display is a 10MP f/2.2 selfie camera.

As usual, the Europe and Indian market will get the Samsung phone with an Exynos 990 chipset. While other markets/region will get the Snapdragon 865+ chipset model. The device has only one memory configuration – 8/256GB and there is no microSD slot available.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is available in Mystic Bronze, Mystic Green and Mystic Gray body colours. Its starting retail price is €950/£850. There will be a 5G model with 128GB storage which will cost €1,023/£950.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

This one is kind of similar to the Galaxy S20 Ultra. It is expected though due to the naming pattern. It comes in a 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED panel with 1440p resolution. To get the 120Hz refresh rate, you’ll need to render the display’s resolution to 1080p. The S-pen on the phone and the supporting Wacom layer on the screen has been updated allowing it to achieve 9 ms latency. Note that, the S-pen on the Galaxy Note 20 is not updated, so it misses out on the low latency.

The triple camera module on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is home to a 108MP f/1.8 main lens with Laser AF, OIS and PDAF, a 12MP f/3.0 periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and 50x hybrid zoom and a 12MP ultrawide lens with Super Steady Video. The selfie camera is the same 10MP f/2.2 lens as on the vanilla model.

The chipset remains unchanged from the Galaxy Note 20. Though battery capacity got pumped by 200 mAh. The 4,500 mAh battery capacity can be charged via 25W charger. The phone supports 9W reverse wireless charging and 15W wireless charging.

The 256GB model costs €1,266/£1,180 while the 512GB sets you back further in your wallet. The phone will be available in three colours – Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black and Mystic White. Shipment is expected to begin August 21 in selected markets/regions.
